3 Things to Initially Do When You Visit A New Destination

Posted on 06 September 2018 by admin (0)

How many times have we gotten to a new destination, forgot to do some things first or perhaps deemed them unnecessary only for them to come back and bite you in the ass and leave you ruing your mistakes, and saying things like “Had I known” and “I wish I could turn back the hands of time.”

These things you need to do when you arrive a new destination are usually simple things every human should know and do. However, we might become carried away by the thrill of experiencing new things and atmosphere that we abandon these things to take pictures and tell our friends back home about the wonderful time you are having.

What then exactly are these things that must be done immediately you arrive a new destination? They are listed below in chronological order:

  1. Secure and Sort Your Accommodation

More often than not, when we arrive a new destination, we tend to pay little attention to where we would be staying during our stay. I’m not talking about securing a hotel room for just one night and being out on the streets with your bags the next morning.

I’m talking a place you would be staying throughout your stay. If you prefer to stay in a hotel, you should secure that room and maybe even pay for your entire stay down while you still have cash on you.

It is important to have somewhere safe and maybe private to keep your belongings while touring your new destination and also to rest at the end of the end of the day.

  1. Know the Best Restaurant and Dish in Town

The stomach, a very important yet vastly overlooked organ. When you visit a new destination, their local dishes might be absolutely different from what you are used to back home. What then happens when you’re hungry? Do you go round from restaurant to restaurant testing al their cooking skills and splashing money as you so?

Why not ask the locals for the best restaurant in town and what meals they would recommend for you as a stranger. There would be lots of time to try out the other dishes and restaurants but at the initial stages, endeavour to have a place you can quickly rush to satisfactorily quench the rumbling in your stomach.

  1. Get Familiar With The Locals

After securing your accommodation and your belly, the next thing to do is to mingle with the locals that stay around you. You could start this in the process of asking about the best restaurants in town.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not asking you to get overly familiar and be all up in the noses, just get acquainted with them initially and let them you are a stranger, telling them the purpose of your visit. The getting overly familiar will happen naturally as your stay progresses.

Getting to know the locals can really help you get out of trouble and help you in navigating the environment.

Do these three things when you arrive a new destination and watch a lot of crisis you would have otherwise experienced go up in smoke and have a much better vacation.
